STUDY EXAMINES FIREWORKS-RELATED INJURIES IN IRAN

For a study on fireworks-related injuries during the Last Wednesday Eve Festival in Iran, researchers interviewed 2475 households in greater Tehran in 2007. Nineteen households had at least one of its members sustain a fireworks-related injury during the festival, and personal property damage, costing an average of US$ 36.60, was reported from forty-five households. Households with at least one injured member spent an average of US$ 441.90. This study, co-authored by Dr. Gary Smith, was published in the July issue of the journal of Injury.
